For decades Bangsaen has been the favourite weekend getaway resort for many Thai people. Its located 85 km south of Bangkok, around a one hour drive from Suvarnibhumi International Airport.
Generally you will not find hordes of international tourists in this charming village, but once a year since 2007 that all changes!
Bangsaen speed Festival is the biggest event in motor sport history in Thailand and a part of the Thailand Super Series. Held at the end of the year since 2007, it is the most exhilarating street racing week. The event offers the best of drivers, teams and racing cars including teams from Formula BMW and Formula Renault, motorbike races are also held.
The Bangsaen Speed Festival is FIA approved for the first time this year to global standards and is broadcast worldwide on International TV. Festival organisers are confident that the circuit will meet all required criteria. This will set Bangsaen up on the world motorsport map as another street circuit with FIA Grade 3 approval, it will be the same grade as Macau and with this grade the future of Bangsaen will look very bright especially for 2016 which will be the tenth anniversary and with that approval the track can certainly draw in more international events next year.
The Tourism Authority Thailand work very closely with the FIA World Sport Tourism Initiative, Sports Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Provincial Administration Organization, Chonburi Municipality and the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (R. A. A.) to make the event the great success that it is today.
The race circuit is 3.7 km in distance and when the roads are closed off barriers and road markings are put in place to help ensure the safety of drivers, marshals and the general public. This year the schedule has been expended to include extra competitions, so even more racing fun to see for all the family!
At the end of each racing day there will be many activities along the beach area of Bangsaen. Many cars will be on view and it will be quite a spectacle.
